St. Joseph School celebrated the gift of live music with our Class Act Family Night concert held in our church. We were treated to a string quintet from the Pacific Symphony Orchestra led by our Class Act musician of the year, Ian McKinnel on the cello. Joining Mr. McKinnel were Nancy Eldridge on the violin, Marlajoy Weisshaar on the violin, John Acevedo on the viola and Connie Deeter on the bass. It was a 45 minute interactive concert that brought the beauty of classical music to our families. St. Joseph School has been a member of Class Act since its inception. The idea behind the program is to bring live classical music to students and introduce them to composers through individual class lessons with our Class Act musician and culminating with our students in grades 2-8 attending a concert at the Performing Arts Center.
This year our own school band kicked off our Family Night concert. First, our recorders in 4th grade played, then our beginning and advanced band played led by our band director from Mater Dei Mr. Taylor Smith and his assistant Mrs. Wightman. It is a year of beautiful music at St. Joseph School and we are thankful for our partners Pacific Symphony and Mater Dei for supporting students interacting with and learning music at St. Joseph School.
